Overcoming Self-Sabotage

Self-sabotage occurs when we do things or do not do things that block our progress and success in many areas of our lives including; employment, finances, relationships, entrepreneurship, etc.

As Christians we practice self-sabotage when we get in God’s way of His plan for our lives (all areas including marriages, relationships, friendships, finances, careers, entrepreneurship)

1. God wants us to trust Him and not rely on our own understanding (Psalms 37:3,5; Proverbs 3:5; Jeremiah 9:23). Go to Him for everything.

2. He wants us to acknowledge Him in all of our ways (live the word). If we do that, He will direct us and will even remove obstacles that keep us from achieving our goals (Proverbs 3:6; 11:5)

3. God requires that we seek Him for His wisdom, have a healthy Fear of Him, stay away from evil (Job 1:1; 28:28; Psalms 37:27; Proverbs 3:7; 16:16; 26:5,12; 28:11,26; Romans 12:16 )

Some ways that Christians practice self sabotage are:

1. Unrepentant sin - jealousy, idolatry, fornication

2. Fear

3. Lack of faith
